With your help we were able to donate thousands of dollars for humanitarian aid to support the people of Myanmar in their resistance to the violent military coup that began in Feb of 2021 as attacks on innocent citizens, monastics and children continue.
In August we were able to provide humanitarian assistance and essential food to 63 families of CDM soldiers in Mae Sot, which included a generous supply of rice, three cans of oil, and a box of fish for each family. This support offered a lifeline to these families who were struggling to access basic necessities. In Karen State, an additional 7 families of CDM soldiers received similar assistance, further reinforcing the solidarity among those fighting for democracy. The families then went on to play a crucial role in spreading the message of abundance to soldiers' wives who were worried about the availability of food. This act of sharing encouraged them to also defect from the military, adding momentum to the movement for democracy.
This month we sent $2000 more in humanitarian aid to the Karenni front lines to provide emergency medical care units which evacuate and transport elderly, children, and injured persons to safe zones, provide front-line aid to injured civilians, purchase emergency medical supplies, and provide lifesaving medical care to roughly 90 people and first aid care to more than 100.
We also were able to provide roughly 150 internally displaced people (refugees within the country) with food and water upon arrival in transported locations/safe zones, tarps and blankets for those in transit or upon arrival in camps/safe zones, medical aid, and first response care for those with life-threatening injuries.
Right now there are hundreds still needing evacuation, hundreds without water and food, and many in need of medical care, so additional funds raised during this holiday season will be directed to emergency aid in these areas and building shelters to be used as schools and medical shelters.
